I’ve been dreaming of this day for so long! Doughnut Plant has been at the top of my wish list for a couple years, and last week I finally made a visit to the Lower East Side location on a study break.
Behold, the crème brûlée doughseed from Doughnut Plant! It’s a tiny little thing, with a hard brûlée crust on the outer shell that looks like glass, and light crème brûlée filling inside. It was every bit as good as I imagined.
The next day I got lost while looking for a library in Chelsea (a regular occurrence) and I saw the other Doughnut Plant location across the street; of course I made another visit. This time I ordered the coconut lime doughseed (a seasonal flavor). The lime custard filling was so tangy and prominent. I actually liked it better than the crème brûlée doughseed. I’m going to visit again before the coconut lime flavor is gone for the season.
Check out the full Doughnut Plant menu here.
P.S. I hope you got a free doughnut on National Doughnut Day. I didn’t, I was in the library :(
