Today it was unbearably hot. Too hot to run, too hot to move, and my window air conditioning unit just wasn’t cutting it. And so, I dragged a friend with me to Over the Rhine to visit Street Pops.
For $3 dollars, you get an all-natural popsicle that tastes better than anything you’ll buy in a store. This trip I had the kaboom pop which was made in honor of the Fourth of July and reminiscent of the bomb pops I used to buy from the ice cream man. The top layer was made of raspberry lemon. The middle layer was made lemon buttermilk. And the bottom layer was made of blueberry lemon. The lemon buttermilk was my favorite part. It was rich and creamy. I would mind an entire popsicle made of that flavor. Overall the popsicle was very fresh. There was no artificial blueberry or raspberry flavor here.
I’m not sure how much longer the kaboom pop will be available so it’s best visit the shop sooner rather than later. Street Pops has a brick and mortar store on Main Street in OTR. And they usually have a cart set up for special events in Washing Park. But look here for a definitive list of Street Pops locations.
Check out the long list of flavors here. I need a few more ways to beat the heat this summer.
